Ugh, Flu
Well there is no secret that the Flu is going around. When we end up getting sick, it can drain our physical energy and unfortunately our mental and emotional energy as well. I recently dealt with something I considered to be the Flu's cousin. While some things cannot be avoided, I am glad it was a quick run in for me, and I was again reminded of how important it is to take care of my body -- it is one of my best allies, and nurturing it is valuable.
So here is a quick smoothie recipe that helped me recently to quickly bounce back (you can add the amounts as you see fit), and that I plan to add to my Winter support regimen:
Vitamin C & Immunity Support Smoothie:
Wash and cut several strawberries
Freshly squeezed oranges or store bought orange juice (not from concentrate, no sugar added, added pulp if desired)
Kale (or other leafy greens)
Non-dairy based yogurt
Probiotics
Echinacea extract
Pour all ingredients in to a blender and blend to desired consistency.
Other supplements to consider (you will have to research or speak to your healthcare provider when using these products with over the counter medications or prescriptions):
Elderberry
Ester C (with added Rose Hip)
Oregano Oil
Licorice root
Lemon Balm and Ginger tea
Grated fresh Horseradish with Apple Cider Vinegar (for sore throat)
Freshly made Pineapple juice (for coughs)
Eucalyptus and Lavender oil mixed with Coconut/Castor oil (homemade body rub)
Keep well,
Kerry.🌞
